The castle just over a mile away is situated at the top of the hill and is well worth a visit. 3 miles from Corby centre and 8 miles from the A14/Jn 7, the Old Plough is ideally located for a great number of attractions including Rutland Water, Kirby Hall, the Eyebrook Reservoir and Rockingham Motor Speedway. The site of the Old Plough dates from tudor times when it produced malt barley for brewing. It was rebuilt in 1838 and served as a coaching inn/pub until 1948. Constructed from local ironstone and limestone with a Collyweston slate roof, this charming old house, together with a stable block and coach house is now grade II listed and retains many of its original and distinctive feature: such as the beer cellar, meeting rooms and the oak beamed guest dining room. |
